Lipsa Vijay - A Passionate Journey in Dance and the Birth of Sanskrithi Academy

Lipsa Vijay - Founder of Sanskrithi Academy of Performing Arts USA
Lipsa Vijay’s journey in the world of classical dance began at the tender age of four under the guidance of her guru, late Smt. Gita Divakar. With rigorous training in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, and Kuchipudi, her love for dance only deepened over the years. Even as she pursued engineering, her heart remained devoted to the art. This unwavering passion led her to become a part of Jayaprabha Menon’s esteemed Mohiniyattam ensemble, gracing prestigious stages across India with her mesmerizing performances.
Her artistic refinement was further shaped by her revered gurus, Kalamandalam Akhila and Kalamandalam Saranya. As a proud alumna of Reva University, where she pursued higher education in Indian classical dance, Lipsa found immense joy in sharing her knowledge. Her love for teaching extends across generations, with students ranging from three to sixty years of age.
In 2022, she realized her lifelong dream by founding Sanskrithi Academy of Performing Arts, an establishment for aspiring dancers in Mckinney and Garland. The Academy quickly became a hub of excellence, preserving and promoting the beauty of classical dance. One of her most remarkable accomplishments came in 2023 when she organized a Mega Mohiniyattam, a grand event at the Karyasiddhi Hanuman Temple, Frisco, TX where more than 60 Mohiniyattam dancers ranging from the age of 7 to 60 performed in unison, creating a spellbinding spectacle.
She and her students have also performed in various cultural events in Texas area including Diwali Fest and Guru Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamiji’s birthday celebrations. She has also been part of several other cultural initiates like the Veena — Jathiswaram combo, a one of it’s kind fusion between dancers and Veena players , just to name a few.
For Lipsa, Sanskrithi Academy is more than just an institution—it is the embodiment of her soul. With a deep commitment to nurturing talent and spreading the essence of classical dance, she continues to inspire and guide countless students. Through her academy, the legacy of tradition and grace lives on, ensuring that the art of dance continues to enchant generations to come.
